re: Window latches,battery repair

A couple of Digests ago Anne O asked about repairing
a cracked battery. As no one who actually knows what
they are talking about responded (publicly), I figured
I'd put out a thought for group ridicule.
I'm not sure what battery cases are made of; I would
guess polyethylene or polypropylene. In the case of
the former, there is a product made for repairing ski
bases called a "P-Tex Candle" which is a stick of
polyethylene which you light, and then dab the ski
base with the melted portion. These are available
in any ski shop. Who knows - may bond to a variety
of thermoplastics.
Warning: make sure the battery cells are completely
vented of (explosive) hydrogen before doing anything
with flame! I have no idea if it's safe at all to
do this!
Good luck,
