Resistor plugs

Have a resistor in the plug body. They tend to generate a fatter spark due to the delay induced by the higher voltage needed to bridge the resistor. Originally they were spark suppression devices to reduce radio interference. Nowadays they are often spec'd (always?) for coil on plug ignition systems for reasons not clear to me but perhaps a combination of the fatter spark and no electrical interference with the ignition amplification in the coil on plug system.
