Rear end "Clunk: Check your transaxle mounts; one on each side of the front 
end of the transaxle. They are vulcanized rubber and metal and the rubber 
separates 
from the metal over time and the front of the transaxle lifts on acceleration
hitting the floor of your car - hence the "clunk". PIA to do yourself easiest 
on a lift.
