Buy a catamaran. I use the mainsheet blocks from my Prindle 19 all the
time for heavy lifting. The 10:1 ratio makes it pretty easy.
However the problem is, that to remove an engine you'll need to be able
to move the engine horizontally as well as vertically. Unless you have
the blocks mounted on a rail of some sort, they won't be of much help
(unless you move the car out from under the engine.)
I'd borrow/rent/buy an engine hoist instead. One hint with regards to
the spider... I believe the trick is to jack the rear of the car up so
that the bellhousing has an easier time clearing the firewall as you
pull it out.
