Re: Autocross launch

perhaps the reason for no authoritative response on the best (yielding
quickest starts) way to launch an alfa from rest is that no one here really
knows!! you'd probably have better results on the mustang or "sport compact"
lists - guys who do a lot of drag racing. perhaps you should take the
opposite approach and do some experimentation and report your results. This
will become "very important to everyone" at the National in New England.
IMHO, i can't believe any of that dump the clutch stuff can be good for the
car. stuff will break for sure - but as long as it helps you win, that is
secondary to any racing effort isn't it. reliability is necessary, but the
hardware is constantly stressed to and beyond it's limits - racers rebuild
stuff all the time - it is part of life on the track.
there recently was a guy here in New England (who i do not really know). he
was autocrossing a milano in G stock?? - did very well too. at his starts,
would rev the engine to 5K and side step the clutch. eventually broke the
axles at one of his starts - but it took a while and he did a lot of winning
in the meantime.
what is the fastest way off the line?? let us know when you find out!
