I remember seeing a similar inquiry among the tech letters in European
Car magazine several years ago.  The individual who made the inquiry also
mentioned the Rover V8; the editors scoffed at the suggestion, citing the
relatively poor performance of the Rover engine and the massive weight
gain associated with it.  They advised the individual to find a Montreal
V8 (highly unlikely), or to take the original four cylinder to a
reputable shop for modification.
