1750 vs 2000 transmissions
Digesti,
I have removed the 1750 from the spider to fix the leaky front cover. Took
the bellhousing off and replaced it with one from a later 2 liter, just to
see if it would match-up. What I noticed was that everything seemed the same,
except the newer bellhousing was open to the shifter-rods at the juncture
between the bellhousing and the transmission. The 1750 bellhousing was
closed, with the reverse light switch being tooled into the back side. The
2-liter had the reverse light switch mounted on a boss from the top of the
bellhousing. I'm baffled as to why Alfa would want to open this potential
source of oil seepage into the bellhousing cavity. Any ideas? Ease of
service? Thanks.
