re: motronic or l-jetronic

I always thought that '90 was the transition year, but in any case, you can tell for sure which injection system you have by looking at the ECU. If the Bosch part number starts in 280, it's L-Jet, 261 and it's Motronic. You could also look at the airflow meter or an injector, I suppose, but I'm not sure if there might be some mixing and matching in those areas. I think the Motronic AFM uses a 5-pin connector while the L-Jet unit has 7, but that's just my memory.

Subject: motronic or l-jetronic

Greetings,

Just picked up an 89 Spyder project car and have a couple of questions. How
does one tell which injection system is on the car? I heard it was a cross
over year and would like to know. Also, what are the differences between
the three trim models... graduate, veloce or quad.

Thanks.
