I drove an early Miata. It was fun if you kept it buzzed up and certainly
nicely balanced. I haven't driven one of the newer ones, but the people
running autocrosses in the SCCA continually post amazing times and certainly
seem to be having fun. I quixotically run my Spider regularly in E Stock
against the early 1.6L Miatas. If I can be within 2 seconds I consider that
a victory of sorts. Still, I drive my Spider. I could buy a Miata if I
wanted, but I don't. I'm loyal to my Spider. We learned to race together.
