It probably depends a little bit on the color of your car but I had an
orange 74 Fiat 124 Spider with black steel wheels and when it needed new
tires I decided to go for a narrow whitewall to 'lighten' the appearance of
the car a bit. It worked great and made the car look surprisingly elegant.
If you decide to give it a try and end up not liking the result you can
always have the tires turned around since whitewall tires usually are solid
black on the other side.
