re: response from Congresswoman/repressive
I don't think the label "repressive" holds.
"Public getting screwed by the constricting hands of deep-pocketed US car
manufacturers and their lobbyists fearing competition" might be more like
it. But the point *is* to reduce vehicle emissions. This argument then
gets way too circular, because one also encounters the "public getting
screwed by the gluttinous hands of deep-pocketed US manufacturers (and
their lobbyists) who want to continue to do ther own polluting and so not
meet good air standards". And what about them diesel trucks, huh? All
those work trucks that don't have to meet emissions standards? Naah, I
wouldn't say repressive. "Capitalist", but not repressive.
Golly, I sound like a Naderite! Honestly, I was too young to pick up on
that stuff (osmosis, maybe?)
