Driveshaft balancing

In the past several issues of the Digest mention has been made about balancing out of balance driveshafts by attaching a hose clamp onto the driveshaft and adjusting its position untill the car feels smooth.

Should the clamp be attached to the end of the driveshaft near the differential or near the sliding joint? Or perhaps on the front half of the driveshaft between the transmission and the center support bearing.

Are both sections of the driveshaft (the one before the support bearing and the one after) balanced together at the factory or done separately.

Can anyone suggest a shop they have used for possible straightening and balancing of an Alfa driveshaft.

Thanks kindly.
