Re: "run flat" tires



Corvettes also feature run-flats.  Their only drawback seems to be price.
Also, to legally buy them, you must install a provision to confirm tire
pressure while driving (idiot lights in the cockpit).  This is complicated
and expensive, pretty much limiting aftermarket use to cars that were
originally equipped with them.  You CAN install the on-the-go pressure
sensors, but it's big bucks!  The sensors are required by law so that the
driver can know that the tire needs repair--the run flat feature is
supposed to be so good that you might not notice it's flat.
