Well, other than the fact that the tech guy from Brembo was interested
to see my Milano with a Brembo caliper on it, we had no Alfa talk. He
did say they could make anything if there was the demand for it.
But we did get a nice talk about the manufacturing, testing and
balancing of all Brembo rotors. Also, there was talk about how Porsche
is using Brembo to design and manufacture entire corners for a car
(suspension and brakes). The big brake kits were interesting as well.
On slotted vs. drilled rotors, the consensus is that neither matter much
for street use but people love the looks of drilled rotors. One nice
thing was a good unsolicited support for Mintex pads, which we've had
great luck with. They said for street use, it's the pad they recommend
with stock calipers as well as their big brake calipers. That was nice
of them to recognize a great product like the Mintex.
They brought one of their development cars that was given to them by a
company who wants to develop a sporty image (I'll get to the make in a
bit). The car had the big brakes, composite body panels, super-light 18
inch wheels and a badge that read Hyundai. Yep, Hyundai wants Brembo to
spiff up their cars. It would have been nice to have seen a 156 or GTV,
but we don't have that much luck.
Overall, pretty interesting. We'll be doing more.
