105 rear side windows from #1037

Hi Mark,
If I understand your question correctly, you're trying to reattach the round
chrome mount that goes through the window glass to the elbow with the plastic
knob in the middle that extends the rear of window. I had mine apart last
winter to replace the rubber washers that protect the glass from the mount.
Here in the USofA I was able to source quite appropriate rubber washers at a
hardware store from their plumbing bits.

How you disconnected it is not mentioned, and from your note it would seem you
did not just remove the 2 screws that hold the inner end of the elbow to the C
pillar to get it free.

The center plastic knob that screws tight to hold the window in position won't
screw off. I've not taken it apart, but it appears to be held on with a roll
pin, I assume once that's driven out you can unscrew the knob and separate the
elbow. You'd likely have 3 parts needed to reassemble the joint -- the
plastic knob, the threaded hinge pin it screws on to, and the roll pin.

Both of the hinge points at the outer ends of the elbow are held by roll pins.
If that is where it is disconnected, you just need to find or buy a roll pin
of the correct diameter and press it in with a pair of pliers.

If what is disconnected is the chrome mount in the glass, that is made up of 2
metal parts and 2 rubber washers held in place by a circlip. The outer chrome
button has a pin that goes through the glass, and the inner part has a hole
for this pin and another for the roll pin that creates the hinge point. The
order, from outer to inner, is chrome button w/pin, rubber washer, glass,
rubber washer, chrome hinge point. You'll see a slot at the end of the pin on
the chrome outer button that accepts the circlip. A pair of Channel-lock
style pliers are handy for spanning the glass to gently press this sandwich
together enough to allow the circlip to seat. You will need to remove the
roll pin and separate the elbow from the glass mount to gain enough room to
insert the circlip. This reassembly can be done solo, but an extra pair of
hands will keep the cursing to a minimum.

Hope this helps,
Tony
