I believe IAP has them, perhaps for around $30. I've seen the instructions you mention, and it seems like more work than it's worth to grind a standard socket.

  I was wondering if anybody knows I can find a pinion
nut socket for the 115 series cars.   I know there are
instructions on the web on how to fabricate one from a
regular socket but I am looking for the original tool.
