Fuel additives

Not trying to renew the recent thread on fuel, but would like to know
what fuel additive is considered the 'best' to use in an Alfa 4-cylinder
with high compression (1300 engine, DCOE2 carbs, 11:1 guesstimate).
First, the car has not turned a wheel yet under its own power, so might
end up not being a problem.

The client also has a small plane so has access (but not handy) to
Avgas. My thinking is if increasing the octane becomes necessary, a fuel
additive would be much less of a hassle than say filling the tank half
up with Avgas at home, then filling the rest of the way at say a Chevron
(my personal choice).

The engine starts easily and idles nicely, but is obviously not under no
load - for now.

AutoWeek has an ad for Techron concentrate at $6.50 for a 12 oz. bottle,
$8.50 for a 20 oz. (minimum 6 bottle order). Is this a good price and
also a good brand?

Are there bad side effects from fuel additives? It does have a vintage
Bendix electric fuel pump. Any seals in there one should be concerned
with?
