I have read some brief stories of Carlo Chitti experimenting and  using the 
fans and nozzles from an aircraft ventilation system in some Alfa race cars 
around 1964 or so.   It's Italian supercharging at its' best.  If you think 
about it, it makes a lot of sense and is a great idea.  The pressure 
through the nozzle is high, as the fans (not a compressor in this case) are 
turning at a high rate.  The system requires little electrical power.  It 
is very light so it can be mounted anywhere.  And it's very compact so it 
can fit anywhere...

Now if you know anyone at Boeing than can get me a couple of these...
