re: 4.3 or 4.1:1 final drive

I'm assuming that you're talking about 116/162 transaxles. I don't know about the 4 cylinders, but 2.5L cars have a 3.43:1 or 4.10:1, and 3.0L cars have (I think) a 3.55:1 (75/Milano) or ~3.9:1 (SZ/RZ). Anyway, that's not what you asked... You need to open the diff housing and count the teeth on the pinion and ring gears. I believe a 4.1 and a 3.4 have 41 teeth on the ring gear, with the difference lying in the pinion (10 vs 12). The 3.55, IIRC, has 39 teeth on the ring and 11 on the pinion. So I would assume that the SZ's 3.9:1 rear end used 39 and 11 teeth on the ring and pinion, respectively.

Hope that helps,

Subject: 4.3 or 4.1:1 final drive

Alfisti,
I need to find out if one of my spare transaxles contains a 4.3:1 final drive.
Can't find any reference on how to verify this. I assume I open the rhs diff
housing but how and where do I go from there?
Thanks.
