I've been looking too. I'm settling on HJC Motorcycle helmets (Open Faced)
The CL-5 is quite inexpensive, then there is the FG-3k which is a little
more. Both are Snell approved (DOT 2000).

I've found the FG-3k on the web for about $100, I'm sorry I don't have
access to the link at the moment.
