Updated AROC Competition Code

The following notice appears in the June 2002 issue of Alfa Owner:

The Alfa Romeo Owner's Club Competition code has been updated. You may
down load and print a copy for yourself from the Internet at:
http://www.aroc-usa.org/comp1.html You may also download a file containing
only the updated pages to revise an existing copy of the Code.
Those without Internet access may order one for $5 from AROC's National
Office: 10 Raskin Road, Morristown, NJ 07960-2824 or (877) 399-AROC or
399-2762.

The AROC Competition Code has been revised to include changes approved
by the Board of Directors at the National Convention in Nashville last year.
The first change is inclusion of a definition of what is an Alfa Romeo for
purposes of eligibility for the Fast Time of Day trophy.
The method of computing modification points for non stock wheel rims has
been changed. The previous method was a bit confusing as it was based on
widths of rims without regard for what had been fitted from the factory. The
revision adds one point per half inch increase in wheel rim width from the
stock factory size.
The method for computing modification points for non stock exhaust
systems has been changed. Points are now assessed for changes from the
original cast iron exhaust manifold to a different cast iron manifold and for
changes to tube headers. References to air injection manifolds have been
removed.
Original equipment shock absorbers may no longer be available for all
Alfas. Therefore, points for a change to any other shock absorber is now one
point per car. Use of adjustable shocks is three points per vehicle. The
change is no longer computed for front and rear of the Alfa separately.
The Competition Code now assesses points for modifications to Spica and
Electronic Fuel Injection systems and components thereof. The only previous
modification points were for changes from fuel injection to Weber style
carburetors.

Comments or suggestions for future revisions to the Competition Code
should be directed to the National Competition Chair at the address shown on
the Contents page of Alfa Owner.

Ciao,
Russ Neely
