Although it's messy, I have been known to resort to driving a very large
screw driver through the filter and using it for leverage.  Maybe there
is a plus to the canister filters after all!

Well.. there we go.. on the 69 Berlina before the Spider, once I got good at not spilling it..
loosening the long bolt, dumping the filter and oil into the pan, popping in the new filter, and putting
it back was pretty simple and neat..
