Koni adjustment

The Koni adjustment is NOT for tuning handling. It is to compensate for wear
and maintain the longevity of the valving rate. Says so right in the
instructions... For both the Red and the Sport (Yellow), Koni advises to
install them as they come out of the box, no adjustment. Most Reds come two
clicks (one revolution, two half-turns) clockwise looking from the top from
all the way soft (fully counterclockwise) In order to adjust them, take any
bump foam or rubber out and remove the flat white plastic washer. Compress
the shock and rotate either direction until the upper part of the shock
"clicks" down and engages the valve body. Then move the upper body relative
to the lower clockwise in half-turn increments to "compensate for wear"
until full stiff is achieved (both bump and rebound) Then, get the shock
rebuilt by Truesports or a Koni agent. When I won the 1986 North Carolina
Autocross Championship (NCAC) in E Stock in what is now the official Krusty
Motorsports ITB Alfetta Sedan, I put 'em full stiff front and rear before I
put them on the car. After a scary moment at Charlotte Motor Speedway (yes,
Mr. Insurance man, it was an autocross, honest...), I pulled the fronts back
out and set them full soft. It seemed better after that, but I really didn't
know what I was doing at the time...
