I have some amusing in-car video of my "Callaway Tea Tray" departing from
my car at the race track.  If I can get myself organized I will make a
video capture of it for your viewing pleasure.  We replaced it with an
aluminum plate, and so far have experienced no catastrophic hood events. 
We weighed the plastic plate after it was recovered from the track, and
it was surprisingly heavy!
