Re:Cleaning a Spider Top

Hi,
 I took the hardtop off of my '93 spider this weekend and noticed what
appeared to be some powdery stains on the softtop. They are whitish and I
would like to try to clean them. What can I use, and how should I go about
it.
 If it matters they are mostly (essentially all of them, I just haven't
looked at the outside to make sure there aren't some small ones I may have
overlooked) on the inside of the top.
