Zbart
I can give you some info from Albany, NY, circa 1975. I don't know the age
of your car or when it was applied. These results are from a Euro-Ford Capri
from the early 70's
It is basically a spray-on tar substance that is also sprayed inside door
cavities, etc by drilling small holes then plugging them. Results? great if
you never compromise the coating and if you do it when the car is new and
before it's first springtime drive thru slushy and salty roads. If the
protective shield is damaged, it will allow severe rust to develop
underneath the adjacent areas of the coating.
If I were looking at a car that was Z-barted a long time ago, I would be
extremely cautious and expect to find hidden rust. It makes the buyers job
much more difficult to determine the quantity of iron oxide you're buying
when the metal surfaces are heavily coated.

(I'm from New Yawk, youse Californians ain't never seen real rust!)
