stretching canvas tops

Paul F. wanted to know about stretching out a canvas top and Ian had 
mentioned about parking it in the sun on a hot afternoon... yes, this may 
work. I had to do this years ago with a Lancia Scorpion I owned and the 
"original, factory" soft-top that I purchased from Fiat/Lancia was simply too 
short. Luckily it was a hot SoCal day and after sitting in my driveway in the 
sun all day I managed to get it closed. Was a "perfect" fit after that.

Also Paul, you can try soaking some bath towels in water as hot as you can 
stand it and then placing them on top of the top. It may take a couple of 
applications, but this method has had success in heating up the material 
enough to get it to stretch. And, of course you know where to get a new top 
if all else fails :)
