RE: Where is my Giulia SZ



George is right. At least according to my latest library addition: Alfa
Romeo Always with a passion by David Owen. He mentions on page 60 the
Giulietta SZ and SS ... and the Giulia SS. The SZ appeared as a
prototype in 1957 with production in 1960 and used the same floorpan and
running gear as the Spider and Sprint but with the typical Zagato
spaeframe of steeltubes. It weighed 785 kgs (1732 lbs). All in all 200
SZ's were built, 30 of these were series 2 from 1962 with a very sharply
cut off Kamm tail.

The SS, made by Bertone, is said to be the one he wanted to do instead
of the Giulietta Sprint, but due to the usual lack of funds of both Alfa
Romeo and Bertone (in those days at least) the Sprint became what we
know.

All very nice cars, and would be a very nice stablemate to the other
ones I have :-)
