Simple green and other "all purpose cleaners"

Simple Green and other all purpose cleaners are alkaline ph cleaners. Alkaline
detergents are corrosive to aluminum, depending on concentration used.

Aluminum is a soft metal already, and easy to damage with chemicals. While it
is doubtful that the effects will be more than cosmetic on an automotive
engine, aviation situations have a much more stringent standard due to the
fact that you typically don't get a second chance in case of a failure. ;)
