Shell gear lube

I wonder if the full synthetic gear lube "Transaxle" is OK in a 
105 gear box from 1970? The manual states Shell "Spirax". There 
was some talk about the "Transaxle" being to effective and thus 
wearing out the syncro rings. 

The "Transaxle" costs three times as much as the "Spirax" BTW.
