Help please re mech oil gauge
I asked experienced club members about the failing oil pressure
indication in my 750F. I was told that it was very unlikely that the
mechanical gauge was at fault. And so, I panicked.
That involved story aside, I hooked up a Snap-On gauge and found no
problem. Whew.
Closer to the point, I need to repair my gauge. I considered Palo
Alto, but was advised by an Alfa guru that I could not count on a
timely return. PA suggested that it would be a 4 day turnaround for
about $100 "but you never know ................ " ( My gauges might
actually do with a resto; however, although my car is very nice, I do
not necessarily want it to be Pebble Beach. I like the faded but
nice gauges I have.)
And so, what do you think? Any advice ?? Especially, can I repair
this gauge myself?
My engine is wonderful. It has very few miles on it. Would you
drive this car without an oil gauge until it was fixed?
An auxiliary is hard to find because of the metric fitting at the
block. A Fiat 124 gauge will not fit directly - fitting too big. I
have Smith mech gauges but .........
I hesitate to find and buy an appropriate VDO.
Well, any thought would be welcome.
Bash On Regardless,
David
