Re: cutting and pasting links

I am acutely aware of how off-topic my original 'helpful tip' is getting.
Sorry to all to keep this mess going, but I've seen this problem time and
time again here on the Digest.

A short link will, in many e-mail applications -- notably Outlook and
Outlook Express, appear as a link like this:

http://www.ebay.com

But due to the fact that the very tight and efficient software employed by
Mr. Welty provides for the fact that not all users have Wintel PCs with an
MS Outlook derivative, a long URL will get broken by a hard return (aka.
NL/CR) as will be evident here in this address showing all of AlfaBill's
auctions:

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&u
serid=mastro-alfa-wrx

This fact can perplex those users who are new or casual computer users who
are used to having links show as links and have text behave itself and
remain black, non-clickable text. I would like to imagine that some AD
members would seldom even turn on their computers but for the Digest!

The second example requires additional effort to view as the UNIX-derived
software which will process my message will most likely break it at 80
characters irrespective of New Lines and Carriage Returns.

My intent was two-fold with my post in AD # 706: 1) two draw people to some
164 & GTV6 parts I'm trying to sell on eBay, and 2) provide an
almost-foolproof way for them to get to my parts or any other truncated
website.
