Re: 164L purchase
hi emilio,
hmmmm... we purchased a '92 164L 5sp back in '97, w/117k on the odo. the wife's main ride, and the sedon main trip machine, now it has ~185k, & we're facing the prospect of replacing the input shaft bearing on the tranny - a ~$40 part, which takes about 14 hours (shop rate) to install... ouch. but, for the most part, it's been quite a trooper. did the steppers & the heater core myself, so that helped... prolly gets ~20mpg around town, mid 20's on the road. but, it gets driven hard & fast. :>) all in all, i'd say *go for it*! ;~)
but, i must also mention that i think my '86 gtwe6 is a fine daily driver. :>) (and a lot more fun than the 164.) i got it ~7 years ago, w/67k; now it has ~175k on it, & it's doin' great. actually, if i leave it set for more than a week, that's the only time it seems to get ornery - it likes regular excercise! so, ymmv... ;~)

<<<Hello all,
<<<I am considering the purchase of a 91 164L 5Sp.( in great shape)I wanted
some feed back as to the practicability of this car as daily
transportation? Is there anyone on the list currently, that uses a 164 as
their daily transporation? What type of gas mileage can I expect? Moreover,
I have owned a GTV/6 for over 15 years and at one point it was driven daily
however, it did not serve well as daily transport.>>>
