Wow, Tony.. you sound like me, back when I had my first Alfa.. (and
the second one, and...)
I would clean and polish things, use up whole Saturdays.. I even wished
for things to go wrong, so I'd have a reason to take things apart..
I more than half seriously thought the beautiful castings of an Alfa
motor would make a great sculpture piece, in the corner of the living
room, buffed up to a high sheen..
As for the airbox and view situation.. do what I used to do. Donno if
they came that way, but the 69 Berlina had nice thumbscrews holding down
the straps, 15 seconds and they and the washers are off and in the
fender gutter, then the just loose enough to wiggle and slip off hose
clamps get wiggled and in 20 seconds the airfilter box is in my hands,
clearing that lovely view to the impressed onlookers...
No mirrors necessary!
