Early Fireworks

Its only April, but I had some sparklers in my trunk.   Was installing a new 
battery when, in a momentary lapse of boneheadedness, accidently rotated my 
wrench too far when tightening the pos post and touched the neg.  Doh!  
Fortunately everything started up and worked as normal on the test drive.  
Question:  could I have screwed up something like the alternator/regulator 
that is not apparent yet?  Easy way to test?  Anything else i need to check?
