I agree that drilled rotors will not make a difference in typical street
driving, in fact they offer marginally less braking force due to reduced
surface area.

Slotted rotors will make a difference in any kind of braking - you have
essentially increased the surface area of the disk, and therefore will
experience increased braking power under most conditions, street included.

Whether it's needed for street driving or not is debatable, but it is there.
