Put 2 Vitaloni Baby Tornado mirrors on the car.  

Fraction of the price(available at Pep Boys, believe it 
or not, if not in stock they will order it for you 
CHEAP!), nearly identical style, non-electric.  I may 
switch back to original(and troublesome electric 
mirrors!) but I needed to get the '86 Spider inspected 
and the missing driver's side mirror wouldn't do it.

Interestingly, I have an 'old' Vitaloni Baby Tornado 
mirror that has a high-quality aluminum housing.  
The 'new' one is made of PLASTIC!  So much for Italian 
workmanship...
