2L Bellhousings

Dean-
There are basically two types of 2 liter bellhousings.
The earlier is usually refered to as the "window
type" and has a big hole in it where the trans
selector rods stick through. The "non-window" or
"closed" bellhouse has no hole and goes on the later
trasmissions with the shorter selector rods.

There are two types of reverse light switches, one
which goes on the window type bellhouse and and the
later which is found on the closed type. The switch
on the window type is attached with two screws which
go through the bellhousing and are visible in an
indentation in the top rear of the bellhousing. With
the trans in the car you can feel the indentation and
the screws if you sneak your hand up to the right
spot. Screws= window bellhousing; No screws= closed
bellhousing.

You didn't say what year your car was in the post that
I read, but if your car was built after 1972 then it
should have a closed bellhousing. Also you can use
the bellhousing from an L Jetronic car ('82-'89); the
bosses for the crank sensors will just be empty.

APE has all the types in stock.
