Bonaldi/Benditalia brake boosters

Hello All:

Has anyone got experience with rebuilding the Bonaldi/Benditalia dual brake 
boosters found in the 105 series cars?

I have been given to understand that they tend to leak (collect brake fluid 
inside the booster) if the car is not used frequently. This is exactly what 
seems to have happened to a brand new set of mine that has seen only about 
4000 miles in the past ten years. Upon opening them up everything looks fine. 
I especially looked at the cylinder end seal and the small air valve seals 
which are the only places that fluid can leak out and they look perfect. John 
Hoard had an excellent article in the June 2001 issue of the Alfa Owner on 
the boosters. John if you are reading this could you please contact me at my

I'd like to know what happens to cause them to leak. Will a complete 
disassembly and reassembly solve the problem?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
