Re: air pumps



Hi Joe. Actually, Chrysler had the idea to run an air pump only, on most 
early 70's cars. The catalytic converter didn't show up for Mopars 'til  late 
1974 , early 76. Depending on the models. Heck, some vehicles didn't get a 
cat. until the 80's. The whole intention for the air pump, was to complete 
the combustion process in the exhaust system. When we would aquire such 
vehicle, This pump would be eliminated and the carb re-jetted. Fine tunning 
works better than, say, more add on crap to cover up mass assembly vagueness.
