928, little 164 Q4 content

There was an article about the 928 in the European car Magazine, a while ago.
Someone realized that the problem with the car was its weight and proceeded
to lighten it up, profesionally ( like changing glass thickness, and deleting
some of the power accessories and associated harnesses). By the time he was
done, the car looked still "street", but, when raced, it was ahead of the 911
cars. The article went on to say that the driver got the idea that the
factory hinted he should move to a 911..

Just to change perspective a bit here, a "good" design, one in which little
is required from the driver, to get *most* of the performance possible from
the car, means that little skill is required. Many can obtain from the car
what is available. This is why, for enthusiasts, there is little interest in
these "good design" cars. The fact that there IS a problem with the car, and
it is unlikely that most will know how to deal with it, is a challenge, that
makes the conquest of that car interesting. Man vs machine.

Alfa content: did the LS or Q have cable shifting linkage? the Q4 had it.
