A pall is a cover spread over a coffin (pall-bearers etc), the horological
correct spelling of the semi-toothed quadrant which the detent engages with
is pawl.

Just thought you would like to know.<<

Hi John,

I do know how to spell "pawl", the incorrect spelling was a copy of what
someone else had written. It could of course be that our American friends
spell it differently as with tyre/tire, grey/gray, kerb/curb,
neighbour/neighbor etc.
