Canada follows the US "lead" in matters of Auto regulation. In rare cases
our regulations are more relaxed than those of the US and some versions of
European cars have been imported here which were not available in the US.
VW and Volvo are two that spring to mind.
I do not know whether our regulations follow those of the US as far as SUVs
are concerned. I suspect they mirror them exactly.
Canada also being wrong about this issue does not change the fact that the
US is wrong.
If the US changes its regulations, Canada will follow suit. We build more
vehicles for the US market, including SUVs than we do for our own, a lot
more. We'd be crazy to have different regulations.
Canada is still just as wrong as the US on this issue.
Trust this "mea culpa" eliminates this side issue from the debate. If I had
the influence to change Canada's regulations I would, but I don't, except
by trying to inform people of my opinion. I am most interested if anyone
has a logical and factual rebuttal to any of my points.
Cheers
and show those SUV drivers appropriate respect!
