Dentax or Spirax

Hi,

Dentax was specified for the old style non-moly synchros and cones used
prior to sometime in 1967. Those rings can be recognized by the step-like
pattern around the circumference. Spirax was specified for the "later"
molybdenum synchros and cones. Those synchros have a rounded grainy gray
coating on them. It's been suggested that both the synchros AND the cones be
replaced if the tranny is upgraded when it's rebuilt.
I don't know if there would be any real harm done to the old style
synchros if you used Spirax.

Good luck,

Steve Smith
