RE: Redline Overrated

About a year ago I read a number of testimonials to Redline oils from one or
two sources...and duly paid an arm and a leg for a couple of quarts of Redline
MTL which eventually found its way into the manual gearbox/diff of my nine
year old 164TS. Am I now to understand that I have been 'had'? I confess to
noticing no difference whatsoever, though I had expected to notice a
difference of some kind.

The question for me is, do I just continue with it, or is it a potential
liability to be drained out ASAP. It went against my normal philosophy to pay
so much, and I only did so in the belief I was doing the transmission a favour
in terms of longer term protection.

We have had a comment on older Alfa trannys and the Guzzi box (my brother has
a Moto Guzzi) Does anyone know what other owners clubs are saying on the
subject of synthetic gear oils, and whether the same issues are being raised.

The manual says API GL-4 grade, so what brands do folk suggest?

I'm not panicking yet, but I am wearing that 'concerned' look.
