91 spider instruments

Discussion about later model Spider instrument clusters reminds me to ask:

There is a lot of dust that's accumulated behind the plastic lens on my BW's
instrument pod. I am working up the gumption to remove the lens for cleaning
purposes and would appreciate any tips or suggestions or tales from those
who've done it. Due to the size, this presents itself as more of a job than
the simple dual pods on the old Spider - on the 71 you didn't have to remove
anything else (such as the steering wheel) to remove the cowls or the pods
themselves, and you could take out the instruments and take off the metal
ring that holds in the glass and replace it without too much trouble. Any
thoughts on the likelihood of cracking the plastic on the newer model? There
are detents visible and with a suitable tool they are pretty accessible; is
there any other attachment point that is not so easy to see?
