Anyone out there who thinks Euro SUV's are just like their US
counterparts
should think about BWM... They tricked out one of their SUV's with an
M-Sport
kit (available to anyone with the money) and lapped the old Nurburgring
under
9 minutes. Only a turbo Porsche and various racers have ever managed
that
trick...

That was no publicly available X5, that X5 was a special one off done by
M-Sport. They stuffed the motor from their Le Mans car in it, a v-12
producing around 700 bhp. They also lowered it and replaced a lot of
the production parts with special aluminum ones. It was also driven by
Hans Stuck. He did a lap of the north circuit in 7.49.
