Super battery location

I am having some accident damage repaired at the front end of my Super and
while they are at it I am planning to have the rust around the battery tray
attended to. They will have to remove what is left of the existing tray
and there enters my question. Shall I put the battery back in under the
hood or move it to the trunk? While the car looks essentially stock it is
vaguely warmed over in the engine and suspension departments and is used
ocassionally on the track. I am interested in whether there might be any
handling advantages for the Super by transferring some of the weight to the
rear. It has a tendency to understeer at the moment and there are various
ways to address that problem but would this help at all? It would make
working under the hood easier but risks transferring rust problems to the
trunk and is moving away from the stock configuration in case anybody had
illusions about trying to restore this car to its original state.
