Another reason for not moving to Berkeley, Dave ! It is now a $200 fine in 
many Bay Area cities for not having a front licence plate, and they actively 
pursue it as it is a good source of income from new arrivals here. Mostly 
because of the cameras they are installing at dangerous intersections to stop 
red light runners, and not having a front plate means that you are avoiding 
being captured by them.
