euro spider performance



    Scott,

    There are other differences which you didn't mention.....
    Obviously the euro intake manifold is different, to accommodate the
carbs.
    The Euro spider uses a bosch distributor which has a different
advance curve and may have a different value for max advance. Europe had
or has better gas than we do with a higher octane rating.  The crank
pulley would be different of course not utilizing the Spica drive,  and
possibly showing a different value for max advance.
    Euro cars all came with the 4:10 ratio differential although other
ratios were optional.
    And finally at some point there was a changeover in the method of
rating horsepower, which is where i get confused..... but it seems
possible this changeover by itself could explain the difference in
horsepower ratings.
